Wildfire Resilience and the Role of Landscapes
An expanded fire season has underscored the need for ongoing vigilance in planning, preparation, and maintenance. From landscaping selection to vegetation management plans, managers should take positive actions to reduce the overall wildfire risk for their facilities. In 2021, more than 46,000 wildfires scorched more than 5 million acres of land. Many of these fires have happened outside of the traditional fire season, which is September and October.
